Abstract
Citing the BBC news channel, the drug Aducanumab targets amyloid. A protein that creates abnormal masses in the brain of people with Alzheimer's that can damage cells and trigger dementia, and these complications include things like memory and thinking problems, difficulty in communicating and confusion. Lakemba received conditional FDA approval earlier this year based on how well it helps remove plaques from the brain that are thought to contribute to cognitive decline, according to Banyan News. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a full license for Lakemba (lecanemab). A drug designed to slow the progression of Alzheimer's disease in the early stages. Lecanemab received conditional FDA approval in January based on study results showing it can help clear the brain of a substance called amyloid plaque, which is thought to play a role in the cognitive decline associated with Alzheimer's disease. Now the FDA has granted full approval based on the findings of a new study that confirms lecanemab can stop cognitive problems in people with early Alzheimer's disease. This is the first time the FDA has approved a drug that targets the underlying disease process of Alzheimer's disease. Clinically proven benefits, Leqembi can help millions of patients with early Alzheimer's.
